Incoming postcards

     After InCoWriMo, Lettermo and Write_On, I got a little overwhelmed with my mail pile and let it sit for a while. I'm in a frantic race to reply to all mail by Monday, August 26th when I go back to school. 8 letters to go.  I'm going to do it. It is said "
     In order to get good mail, you need to send good mail." The other day, I was straightening up the desk where my computer is and I saw my pile of postcards to put away. I realized that, compared to the average person, I get a massive amount of personal mail. I send a lot too, but this pile made me happy. I thought I'd share with you some of the great postcards that I've received just this month. For anyone considering Postcrossing, this is where most of these Postcards came from. (I apologize if I posted a few of these before, I didn't want to scroll through all the posts to check since I don't have a lot of time tonight.)  It's so great to connect with people across the globe in a positive way.I've written where each card is from above the cards:

So, ask you can see, I get a great variety of cards.I have lots of other news to share, some good some not so good. Well, nothing bad,  just a little stressful. I am going to let myself get back to school before writing those posts.

Good news, it seems that my writing mojo is back. (This may be bad news if you follow me on Twitter and have gotten my million notifications of sending a Postcrossing card. Sorry). I spent some time yesterday and this morning writing thank you notes and writing some Postcrossing cards. I look forward to tossing them all in the mail today and then attempting to tackle my overwhelming "respond" pile. Thanks to everybody who has been patiently waiting. Postcrossing cards are being sent to: Russia, Germany, Canada, Japan, Finland, USA (California),Portugal, Poland, France, Netherlands, and Romania. 

 

 

  It will be nice to start receiving so many cards back once these ones are registered. I hope to have the maximum amount of cards traveling as I am allowed to. I think I'm up to 19 now. I have a few more to send tomorrow and then I'll be at the maximum.

While I was away...

These are the cards I received in my mailbox when I got home from vacation.

 Elderflower punch- From Germany. I have never tried elderberry but maybe I'll give the recipe on the back of this card a chance. 

 

Also from Germany. I learned about the band Brings from Koln. Interesting sound so far. I look forward to listening to more of the band. 

 

This incredible building is an aquarium in Russia. Very cool.

From the US. I have always wanted to see the Northern Lights in person. 

 

 From Washington. Ironically, I just spent a little time in Tennessee, where Elvis lived from the age of 13. I didn't go to the Memphis area though.

Recent cards

Here are some recent Postcrossing cards that have come my way. If you are new to the blog (or snail mail), Postcrossing is a postcard exchange site. I have met so many wonderful people on the site and through their mail to me. This is what came in this week:

I think this is my first mail from Serbia? 

     It is Milos Obilic, a Serbian hero from the Kosovo battle in 1389 when he killed the Ottoman sultan Murat.  

Lastly, this one is from Russia. This little girl looks a little like me when I was younger. I was way less fashionable though.

     I have been consistently writing this month, which feels great. Now I just have to wait for people to reply (with my luck, all at the same time.) I'm on vacation this week so I plan to catch up on all of my penpals in my "reply" pile.  For now, these are the postcards going in tomorrow's mail- all headed to people who requested me as a friend on Lettermo. Hopefully I'll make some new friends.

 

    I'm looking forward to having this upcoming week off from school. I will be spending a few days down the Cape with the boys. I'm so excited for a few days of rest and "out of the ordinary."
