ICAD 21, 40, 41

Here are a few more index cards I made. I think the kaleidoscope one is way too chunky. I wish I had better art skills but I'm having fun just experimenting around. The next thing I would like to invest in would be a gelli plate. A student gave me a gift card at the end of the year so I may just treat myself :) If not, my birthday is in October.. lol. Here are the cards.
Prompts were: moon, repeating pattern, and kaleidoscope. My moon isn't visible because it's apparently daytime. Too bad I like the light blue and wasn't thinking of making it darker.

  We just got back from vacation. Perhaps I will write about it in the next post.

Welcome Luxembourg

Hey, I noticed on my stats today that I had a visitor from Luxembourg! I never had someone check out the page from Luxembourg. Welcome! Hope you enjoy looking around. Feel free to introduce yourself.

ICAD9, 12

I'm slowly catching up. The first card's prompt was "Alphabet," the second's "paisley." They're both pretty simple cards. The second one was inspired by a bow-tie advertisement I saw on a friend's Facebook page.

ICAD 34- Flag

ICAD- Although this is not my 34th card, I hope to catch up. So here's day 34/61. The prompt was "flag." Today is Independence Day in the USA so I thought I would make as close to the American flag as I could. I made my eraser stamp a little too big to include all the stars so I just have most of them. The stripes are cut and pasted pieces of paper. The blue is foam.

No mail on the Fourth of July so hopefully I get a bunch of good stuff tomorrow!

Fireworks ICAD

Here's my attempt at painting fireworks... and spilling some paint on the one on the left. Lol. It looks pretty cool from far away. I'm just having fun experimenting and being creative.

Postcrossing cards so far for July

My mailbox has been very happy with Postcrossing cards this month. Here are some that I've received:



This one is from the US. It's the Oscar Mayer Weiner-Mobile. I have never seen this in person but I have seen a local one shaped like an LL Bean boot!



From Finland. I have gotten a few folk dancing cards recently and I really like seeing the traditional costumes.

 
From Germany, this town is a UNESCO town.


Another folk dance, this time from Spain.


Pretty card from China. It reads "Clouds come floating into my life from other days no longer to shed rain on wishes but to give color to my sunset sky. Stray Birds"



From Russia.



From Belarus. This town is kind of a symbol of sorrow for some Belarussians. The message on the card was really interesting to me as I don't know much about the history of Belarus.

Dabbling in art

Hello friends. Happy summer vacation! Unfortunately, my first day of summer vacation with the kids, I ended up in the hospital being checked for meningitis. Gratefully, I didn't have that- but, 4 days later, I found it I did have pneumonia instead. It has wiped me out but I'm starting to finally feel like myself.  Here's some updates with the mail and my ICAD challenge.

ICAD-

   After the last time I posted, I started feeling a bit of pain in my arm. It ended up being golfer's elbow. (Yeah, I know, not a fun health year.) No, I don't golf. I had about 6 weeks left of school. The doctor said that I "shouldn't be carrying, playing (piano/percussion/anything else), conducting, typing or writing."  Then she laughed and told me that if I promise to be careful, I can rest my arm a lot over the summer and still work. So, I basically didn't do any of the above mentioned things that I did not "have to."  This summer I plan to take it slow but since I'm not working I think I can do a few creative things. Here's my ICAD card today. I attempted birch trees using watercolors and black marker. It looks weird because I forgot to add branches. Oops.  I kinda like it anyway.

     I'm getting a little more brave as I go. Oh, speaking of brave... wow, what happened to my spacing.. I also went to my first paint nite. Want to se my lighthouse?
